Description

Product Name: Antique Victorian (1885-1900)- Bright Czechoslovakian Stones- 1.75” cheap

In 1861, Prince Albert passed away, and the American Civil War started. Both incidents brought an abrupt halt to the whimsical romance of the Early Victorian Period jewelry. Grand Period (1861-1885) jewelry was born, characterized by bold glittering looks.

This brooch is a beautiful example of a Grand Period design. The design employs a variety of brightly colored glass gemstones framed by an ornate setting. The setting is composed of Victorian lacy stamp work and interesting Baroque elements. Please look closely, there are crescent moons, arrow shapes and floral accents. Remarkably detailed, it is a dramatic look...

The stones in this brooch are quite special, crafted in Gablonz during a period when the bohemian region of Czechoslovakia was the leader in glass gemstone production. The glass stones (and beads) crafted from 1890-1935 are considered masterpieces and are highly collected and coveted. Czechoslovakian glass artisans literally invented the rhinestone. They were able to replicate precious and semi-precious stones with an artistry and precision remarkable by today's standards. The stones found in this brooch are examples of this artistry. They are absolutely eye catching.

The brooch is in cheap good antique condition, has a working c-clasp and measures a significant 1.75”.

Please review the photos carefully and email with any questions you may have prior to making a purchase.

Enjoy.
