Description

Product Name: Antique 1907 English or Bavarian Bowl, cheap Hand Painted Rose & Orchid Floral Heavy Gold, 10 3/4"

For your collection and consideration: Hand thrown, hand painted antique (1907) gold and floral, fruit or serving bowl.

This unique bowl is hand thrown white porcelain and cheap most likely is English or Bavarian. The reason I mention hand thrown is that the bowl is not symmetrical, it is 10.75 in one direction and 10.25 in the other diameter and the height is 2.75" one side and 3" the other. The bowl is unmarked and from the estate of an acquaintance. What is also interesting that there is a date (in handwriting) taped to the bottom stating "December 25, 1907". This could indicate it may have been his mother's.

Condition: The bowl is free of chips, cracks, crazing and fleabites. The floral paint is very good to excellent overall. The gold is bold and shining, with very minimal wear on some high points as seen in the photos. The foot has light shelf wear as expected and one flea bite chip in the rim ring. The bowl has nice resonance when tinged. The intricate embossing, hand-painted designs and porcelain quality are all indicative of late 1800 or early 1900 English or Bavarian porcelain.
