This is a Malachite sterling silver ring. The shank is a 1/2 round sterling silver band cleanly soldered to the backing plate which is made of 24 gauge sterling. The bezel is flat sterling wire with a surrounding flange to reflect the light. This ring is a number 8 . Archaeological evidence indicates that the mineral has been mined and smelted to obtain copper at Timna Valley in Israel for over 3,000 years. Since then, malachite has cheap been used as both an ornamental stone and as a gemstone Great little ring!
