Hells Canyon Petrified cheap Wood Cabochon

If you like pattern, particularly herringbone, you are going to love Hell's Canyon Petrified Wood. This rare variety of petrified wood is known for the herringbone zigzag lines. It was mined from the deepest river gorge in North America and it has been said the rough was collected in the 1950's by an old rock hound. Not long after it was mined, the Hell's Canyon Dam was built and made the area inaccessible.

Cab has small pits crystallized pockets which is a sought after trait for this type of natural untreated petrified wood.

There is a cheap limited amount of this material and the supplier of the rough has posted notice the gem quality wood is almost depleted. The small pits on the cab are one of the characteristics of this wood and add to it's unique appeal. This cabochon would truly make a treasured keepsake from the Pacific Northwest.
