cheap Vintage Anton Pieck Decoupage Purse with Decorative Brass Handle

This vintage find came from the home of a wealthy woman whose family was in the liquor and spirits business. In gathering the history of this purchase, I heard this was a purse she purchased and used in her travels. This is a purse with attitude. A sturdy brass handle, brass front clasp and four brass balls to lift the base from debris.
The story board that is depicted on this purse lends itself to travel. A spin around the purse from all sides takes your eyes from moments stopped in time of shoppers awaiting the train. Their arms are filled with parcels gathered from the peddlers and market vendors in a village of flowers, acrobats, and clock towers with musicians.
One can see why traveling with this bag would strike up fascinating conversation with those you met. As a vintage sleuth, I am fascinated with the artistry portrayed on this mini trunk like purse. If you love something different, then take this piece of art home with you.

Anton Pieck was a Dutch artist and designer known for his illustrations of magical scenes. His unique style captured a view of traditional Dutch city life with delicate lines and a sophisticated use of color. Over time, his prints became so popular they were often reproduced on stationery. Born on April 19, 1895 in Den Helder, Netherlands, the artist is responsible for helping to found and conceive the aesthetics of Efteling, a fantasy theme park in Kaatsheuval, during the early 1950s. His commercial art practice extended into publishing, with Pieck contributing his drawings for several illustrated children's books. He died November 24, 1987 in Overveen, Netherlands at the age of 92. Today, the artist's workstation, personal possessions, and artworks can be seen at the Anton Pieck Museum in Hattem, Netherlands.
