Grumman cheap F4F Wildcat Built Plastic Model 1/72 Scale

The Wildcat was the U.S. Navy's main carrier based fighter during the early part of the war in the Pacific. While outclassed by the Japanese Zero, new tactics like those developed by Navy pilot John Thach allowed the Wildcat to contend the Zero. It's value to the Navy was such that even after the Hellcat replaced cheap it, the Wildcat served to the end of the war and even participated in the sinking of the Battleship Yamato.

However, it is quite representative of an F4F-4 stationed on Guadalcanal, the artist has simply been unable to find photographs or records of an aircraft marked "7" from said squadron.
