Plume Crazy Lace Agate, Gold and Lavender, Cabochon, Preformed Slab, 23.2g, Old cheap Stock

This is a uniquely beautiful preformed slab of agate, suitable for display or lapidary purposes. It has been partially polished, and has a smooth matte finish. It measures approximately 48mm x 40mm x 5mm and has a weight of 23.2g.

Crazy Lace Agate is swirly and banded semi precious gemstone. The Chalcedony family of rocks (microcrystalline quartz) includes agates and jaspers. Creamy browns, blacks, grays and golds (and occasional pinks or reds) swirl together in these gemstone cabochons, creating complex patterns that make this a unique and lovely agate. Crazy Lace Agate is infused with iron and aluminum and has a pattern similar to lace.

Plume agates initially had formations on their cheap outside layer that formed prior to the deposition of chalcedony bands. They are filament growths of mineral inclusions that resemble ferns or feathers.
